Use the Google+ Bookmarklet on your iPad/iPhone

by AJ on October 13, 2011

Just follow the instructions below:

1) On your iPad/iPhone, visit this page. Click the link shown above.

2) Using your iPad/iPhone’s browser, after you have clicked the link, add that page to your bookmark. Click or tap “Add Bookmark”.

3) Name it anything you want. I named mine as “Share to Google+“. Hit “Save”.

4) Go back to your Bookmarks, click or tap the “Edit” button

5) Click the Google+ bookmark

6) Edit the URL part, delete only the “http://ajbatac.com/gplus-bookmarklet.php#” part. Make sure you leave the rest. You should now just have the following in there:

javascript:location.href=’https://plusone.google.com/_/+1/confirm?hl=en&url=’+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+’&title=’+encodeURIComponent(document.title)

Click or tap the “Bookmarks” or touch anywhere to save.

You’re done!

To use the Google+ bookmarklet, go to the page you want to share, click the bookmarks menu, then tap the bookmarklet we just saved (Share to Google+). You should see something like this.

Hit “Share”!

(Note: The “Add a comment…” part doesn’t seem to work just yet)

Hope this helps.

Doesn’t seem to work. Opens new page in same tab with text “+1 by Robert Mark Bram”, but no controls, no indication that anything has happened, no way to share…

I should have said I am trying the iPad link, sorry. :)

Having the same problem. iPad 2 and I click the bookmarklet and all I see is the +1 text and nothing else. There is no place to add my comments or add to my circles and my +1 doesn’t seem to be showing up on Google at all. I redid this twice ( and I have 3 other bookmarklets, so I am certain I did it correctly.) I am guessing it may have to do with a change on Google’s side? Maybe?

Is that still working at your end? Not for me and my new iPad. Is there a trick?
Thanks

Nice! Thanks.

The comment works in iOS 5, though everything below the comment field doesn’t appear until the cursor is put into that field.
